M.urder R.eady to E.at by Anita Rodgers is the second book of the Scotti Fitzgerald Murder Mystery Series. Once again Scotti and her best friend Zelda find themselves in the middle of a murder mystery. Only this time it’s the murder of a homeless veteran who the girls have befriended on their food truck route. All signs point to an accidental overdose that killed her homeless friend but Scotti is not so sure about it. As food truckies by day and P.I.s by night, the girls find what they think is a connection between the death of their friend and a case Joe has them staking out at night. As things progress, Scotti finds herself in more danger than she bargained for.
Anita Rodgers has a sense of humor rivaled by none. I find her novels to be nothing less than hilarious. But this particular story was not just funny, it was touching. The sad truth about veterans who suffer from PTSD (or other disorders) and live on the streets as ghosts to the rest of the world is a reality. M.urder R.eady to E.at brought out the miserable circumstance that these poor souls live with every day. The very people who served our country and are now nobodies with nothing. Thank you, Anita, for a mystery that spoke to every emotion I own. Love these books!!!
