Mateguas Island by Linda Watkins is a fiction thriller about a man named Bill, who has lost his job and finds out that his Aunt has left him a house on Mateguas Island. His wife, angry with him for putting her through it, reluctantly agrees to go. She immediately does not like the Island. Something about it makes her feel strange. Meanwhile their twin daughters Terri and Sophie find a mysterious box hidden in their closet and have no idea what it’s for. When Bill lands a job on the mainland, he feels that things may just turn around for them. But that’s when their life begins to spin out of control and the terror begins.
Mateguas Island starts out as a normal everyday story. Nothing sensational about it. A family learning how to deal with hard times, a marriage hanging by a thread, stressful life situations, but then it turns on you. The things you think are true, are not anymore. The Island, and the Anderson land in particular has a mysterious spell cast upon it that can only be broken by one person. But in order to stop the evil, they first have to believe it’s true. And can it ever really be stopped? Once again Linda Watkins has not let me down. Her characters are real to life and her storyline riveting. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Thanks again Linda for a thrilling read.
