Coffee and Crime by Anita Rodgers is a hilarious story about a waitress named Scottie Fitzgerald and her quirky, filter-less friend Zelda. Scottie’s life’s ambition is to buy the restaurant she works at from her Cuban boss, Manny, who is anxious to sell and get back to Miami. When Scottie’s rich investor- friend George suddenly dies from a nut allergy, Scottie risks losing the restaurant. At first, she worries that her own brownies are what killed him but soon realizes that George has been murdered. Together, Scottie, Zelda and an enlisted crew of sleuths, begin investigating the mysterious death.
I have not read a book so entertaining since the Stephanie Plum Series. I laughed so hard at times my family thought about committing me for evaluation. I love. love. love. Zelda! She is everything I wish I could be. Not afraid to stand up for herself. Tough to the core. And Scottie! Sarcasm Galore! Even Manny, with his Cuban accent, had me going. I really cannot say enough about this book. Anita Rodgers is one talented lady. I can’t wait to read more of her books! Thank you, Anita, for a hilariously suspenseful adventure I won’t soon forget. Crime and Coffee is a must read for any and all mystery fans.
